It also includes parts of present day northwestern Maine in the United States. The island of Cape Breton, where Cape Breton University is located, is known as Unama’ki in the Mi’kmaw language, meaning “land of fog”. Unama’ki is one of several traditional districts in Mi’kma’ki.
