Location
The Institute for Integrative Science & Health is located at Cape Breton University in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Both the Institute and the University are in Mi’kma’ki, the traditional territory of the Mi’kmaw Nation in eastern North America. In Canada, this traditional territory encompasses present day Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, the Gaspé region of Québec, and southwestern Newfoundland. It also includes parts of present day northwestern Maine in the United States. The island of Cape Breton, where Cape Breton University is located, is known as Unama’ki in the Mi’kmaw language, meaning “land of fog”. Unama’ki is one of several traditional districts in Mi’kma’ki.
